Deep in an ancient forest, magical creatures live hidden from the human world, protecting a mysterious source of life. Among them is Mavka, a gentle forest spirit whose gift is awakening nature each spring. Her world changes when she hears the beautiful melody of a flute played by Lukas, a young musician from a nearby village. Drawn together by music and curiosity, the two discover a connection that crosses a boundary neither was meant to break.
But the forest holds more than wonders. Its inhabitants have good reasons to distrust humans, and someone beyond its borders is determined to claim its magic for themselves. As tensions grow between the village and the woodland, Mavka must choose between her feelings and her duty to protect her home.
Inspired by Lesya Ukrainka’s celebrated poetic drama The Forest Song and Ukrainian folklore, MAVKA: THE FOREST SONG is a colourful animated adventure filled with extraordinary creatures, playful humour and music. At its heart is a story about love, the natural world and learning to see beyond fear and prejudice.
